Used up my bread flour making some baguettes! I used to love making bread but haven't in years, so this was fun :)

Bonus: Baguettes are vegan, so I can bring them over my friend's house for dinner!

Those look yummy. I love baking bread, don't you? I can only do it really if I share with others or freeze it- warm baked bread is my weakness!

Exactly - its a great way to use up stuff, eat something yummy, not worry about leftovers, *and* be a good dinner guest! My friend has two kids, so the bread will definitely be consumed tonight!

I love every aspect of this project. What a great way to use things up, try recipes that are new or you haven't done in a while, and I imagine it would save some money too. We really need to do something like this. Well I love those Pinterest perfect pictures of every kind of dried bean stored in a perfect glass jar it really is just wasteful if you're not going to actually use it. We have way too many things like different kinds of flours taking up space in our cabinets. Are you just picking random ingredients and then looking for recipes?

Its definitely helping me save money, which is also part of the project.

I'm trying to not have to move with much food, so I started with the things I most obviously had most of the ingredients or a recipe for and am working my way down to the backs of the cupboards (and there are lots of surprises!) As I go, I am also checking things for expiration dates and tossing those. I'm also combining things I have several of into one container. I used up some half full bottles of vinegar and some baking soda to clean the stovetop!

A restaurant owner acquaintance of mine (who just got to host David Sedaris as a special customer during his book tour) used to do a newspaper column where she'd go to people's houses and show them how to use what was already in their cupboard to plan meals. This looks as much fun. Also isn't this Saturday US mail carrier canned food drive day? You could give your mail carrier anything else you have on hand.

Also just reading your title now my brain keeps wondering the provenance of Cupboard as it's really not a board and frequently doesn't hold cups!

A lot of the things I have left are already opened - I'm not a big canned food person - most of my vegetables are fresh and I cook a lot from scratch. The things left in my cupboard are a lot of grains in bulk or baking ingredients. Next up, I have to tackle the bags of rice and couscous I have!

I believe Cupboard comes from sideboard - a place to display dinner/dinnerware.
