My parents have really enjoyed Live from the Met performances (http://www.metoperafamily.org/metopera/liveinhd/LiveinHD.aspx) - I keep saying I want to go, but have just finally remembered to put it in my calendar. It is more expensive than a regular movie, but less expensive than a regular opera (for a theatre in IN, it looks like it is about $22). They said they loved being able to see backstage during the intermissions and things like that.
