Wisconsin in the news! For murder...

So, if you're like me you smelt something fishy with this story about a Wisconsin hunter who shot and killed 6 people when he emptied his 20-round semiautomatic rifle into the group of eight hunters on the first day of hunting season. A new piece of the puzzle has been revealed and if it isn't an instance of how tougher guns laws save lives, I don't know what is.

The hunter was in a tree stand on private property, hunting with an SKS assault rifle. This was a gun banned under the assault weapons ban (under Clinton) because it can easily be modified to be fully automatic. It is also a horrible weapon to hunt with. It does a great job killing people, but it's not so good for shooting bambi. It was a precursor to the AK-47 and costs around 200.00. The Bush administration authorized the importing of SKS's from Yugoslavia and Albania.

I said the same thing when I saw it on the news last night, and my bf said they use them for hunting, but I'm just not buying it. Why would you want to hunt a deer that was swiss cheese when you were done with it? You don't. The only thing those guns are designed for is killing a lot of people fast.

Exactly - the gun is underpowered, so you have to shoot something more than once. Any hunter I know would not agree with that. For one thing, it demonstrates that you are a bad hunter who can't kill a deer with one shot - the pride of any good hunter.

oh, there's absolutely something going on there. i'm not always a conspiracy theorist, but this case definitely sounds off. what a tragedy. i can't believe there are people in this country who don't believe in gun control and bans on assault weapons.

I see a lot of "Sportsmen for Bush" stickers here and it boggles the mind. Hunters are the first group to stand up for gun control - hunters safety classes, licenses, etc.
