Monday morning links:

Moulage (French: casting/moulding) is the art of applying mock injuries for the purpose of training Emergency Response Teams and other medical and military personnel. Moulage may be as simple as applying pre-made rubber or latex "wounds" to a healthy "patient's" limbs, chest, head, etc., or as complex as using complicated makeup and theatre techniques to provide elements of realism (such as blood, vomitus, open fractures, etc.) to the training simulation. The practice dates to at least the Renaissance, when wax figures were utilized for this purpose. (wikipedia, link goes to blog entry on Moulage museum)

New Bakery in the hood, will have to swing by this week.

Crispy Kale recipe - I had a version of these at the Green Owl with Emily last month and they were amazing.

Two songs I heard on XMU last week that I instantly fell in love with:

This is going to sound obvs, but I've been getting a lot of ridiculously good silk scarves off of Etsy for super-cheap. I just bought this one from the 70s that's got the Zodiac signs on it and is super-colorful. With shipping it was all around 7 dollars.

Plus, might I recommend vintage Schiaparelli scarves. The line is going to relaunch in a few years, and she has crazy designs, especially from the 50s.

Full Battle Rattle (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1078891/) used some moulage, if I remember correctly, as well as incident type cards, as part of their realistic-as-possible military training. I know Tyson thought the incident cards were really neat, but I unfortunately couldn't find any online when I looked later. The museum would be interesting to see, especially their gift shop! :P

I just saw a link to academichic on Fashion For Nerds, which you may wand to check out if you haven't been over there already. She's revolutionizing how I think about fashion (admittedly, I haven't thought about it that much lately!), and definitely encouraging my John Fluevog consumption, so be careful. But her outfits are great!
