The problem is, I can wash my hands, but I can't make other people wash their hands. We need some more public health propaganda for the 21st century!
That really saddens me about the Navy sonar case. I've been following that for years. The concluding sentence puts the ruling squarely on the side of public interest without even a consideration of the needs of many, many endangered species. I guess we'll have to wait for a better technological solution.
