Howard Dean

If you are interested in Howard Dean as candidate for President, I highly recommend watching Dean's speech announcing his candidacy. He is an inspiring speaker.

The man speaking in the beginning is Burlington Mayor Clavelle (Progressive), then US Senator Jim Jeffords (Independent), then US Senator Pat Leahy (Democrat), then Gray Brooks (Dean Volunteer), and then Howard Dean begins to speak about 20 minutes in.

maybe you know the answer to this..cause ive been wondering. on his television commercial, why does he say "that's why i approved this message"?? it sounds so strange and unfitting to me. youd think it would be "thats why i wrote this message" or "thats why im delivering this message"?

you know, I haven't seen the ad yet! (either they don't bother in MA because of Kerry or I don't watch enough TV) I'll have to go over to the site and find it....

Apparantly the "that's why I approved this message" is some sort of requirement since the new campaign guidelines were put into effect.

Here's an excert from the requirements:

"One provision of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law is that television ads must include "a statement that identifies the candidate and states that the candidate has approved the communication... Such statement-- '(i) shall be conveyed by-- '(I) an unobscured, full-screen view of the candidate making the statement, or '(II) the candidate in voice-over, accompanied by a clearly identifiable photographic or similar image of the candidate ..."

Since Howard is so on the ball, getting his ads out there first, unfortunately no one is going to know why he says that. When other ads start popping up, it'll make much more sense... :)

That's so interesting Brad, thanks! I couldn't download the ad, the site just freaked out on me. Hopefully we'll get some when the NH primary is near.
