Ashleigh fortunately doesn't have celiac sprue, but she is very sensitive (allergic?) to gluten. Her symptoms - bellyaches so bad they have been mistaken for appendicitis, intestinal issues, migraines, severe acne, difficulty absorbing iron, body odor - disappear when she stays away from gluten. I have found a few special gluten-free foods that taste good and are not *too* expensive so she doesn't feel deprived (DeBole's pasta, Udi's bread, Pamela's brownies), but generally we have to just feed her naturally gluten-free stuff because HOLY CRAP it's expensive to try to buy too many of the "special" foods.
