Crazy?
Who would have thought, back in 2008, when I started to do Couch-to-5K with
antarcticlust that I would be considering a half marathon? OK, maybe you guys did, but I didn't.
Much like my climbing and yoga practice, I've realized what it's like to plateau and that if you want more out of it you have to put more in. Going climbing two times a week has done wonders for my skills - last night (and
alexeye, you'll get this) I had one of those moments where I'd done a route almost a dozen times and always thought one part seemed harder than it should be and last night put my foot in a counter-intuitive position and was like "OH! It's so *easy* now!"
So, I'm doing this program, which comes highly recommended and looks very manageable, especially because I can already run 10K. My goal will be the Madison (half) Marathon, which, according to the website is 110 days away! I'm not going to worry too much about the cross and strength training, considering I do climbing and yoga both twice a week. I've even convinced Nick to do CrazyLegs with me the month before (it's only 8K and ends with beer - SO Wisconsin).

i love that *click* moment in climbing. especially because climbing is so much more of a thinking sport than most of the other athletic activities i take part in. i think it's super awesome that you're training for a half - i have been thinking of finding a program that will get me up to 10K, since i have really plateaued at the 5K length.

It was one of those situations where I always felt like I was missing a foothold because the nearest one for my left foot was way off to the left and the next hold was for my right hand. Of course by using that foothold, it pushed my right hip into the wall and I barely had to move to get that handhold.

i love it when that stuff happens! also, learning to use smearing moves really changed my climbing. all of a sudden it felt like the whole wall was useable (at least for my feet).

Gah, I haven't done one since 2010 but I miss the feeling of training for one and getting through, it is AMAZING. Makes you feel like you can do anything.
I really need to do one this year!
