ya know, this just makes me think that the changing of the guard within the next 10 - 12 years, as to who will be teaching/reviewing/hiring within acdemic circles is going to change all this. A staunch refusal to accept a pulbic aware of academia and its workings is going to lead to nothing but stubborn heel-digging. Blogging, as I would see it, would and could become the very epitome of peer review. If what you say and write is put right out there, for public display, there would be little choice but to expect your peers to see what it is you have to say. Scholars who think otherwise are those people we will soon see put to pasture.
