I'm not sure I get all that this paragraph is talking about, but this first part: When women ignore their bodily processes or, worse, recognize them merely as problems whose solutions are available only through consumerism really resonated.
Since I got a keeper ten years ago and started cloth pads, I honestly don't give my period another thought anymore because I don't have to BUY anything for it. It's no longer an inconvenience that means I have to stop at CVS on my way to work, or make sure I am always near a drugstore. It's just a non-issue.
